Change My Homepage to Google in Chrome Browser

Google search engine is the default homepage in Google Chrome browser. Whenever we install some other software in our PC, a small toolbar installs with the software changing the default search engine in Google chrome or mozilla firefox. It's really disturbing to see some other nonsense search results while searching. Sometimes, search bars like delta-search confuse you with Google as they make their screen just like Google homepage. When you search in their bar, they give bad results and promote ads heavily.

I am currently using Google chrome and came across this problem. There are simple ways to remove Delta-search or any other search that appears in Google chrome by default. You can change it back to Google search engine. The other thing is that you won't find the program in Add and remove of control panel.

Here is a very simple solution to set your homepage to Google in Chrome Browser :

  1. Go to Settings of your Google Chrome Browser.
  2. In Startup, Select Open a Specific page or set of Pages.
  3. Click on Set Pages.
  4. Now remove the pages that you see and enter http://www.google.com and click OK.
  5. Done!
  6. Now, you will see Google search engine whenever you open Google chrome or a new tab in chrome browser.
How to change the default search option in Google chrome browser?

You might know that you can search anything by typing in the address bar of the Google chrome browser. When you hit enter, it will search the keyword with Google. But due to toolbar installed or any other selected search engine, the results will be different.

You can change the default search engines by following these simple steps-
  • Go to settings of your Google chrome Browser.
  • In Search, Click on Manage search Engines.
  • You can also use the drop down menu to change search engines.
  • Select the desired search engine for your omnibox.
Normally there are 3 options to select namely Yahoo, Bing and Google. You should also look for any toolbar which you never installed but it appears in the browser. Go to Control Panel and try to uninstall it in the add or remove section.

Comments

  1. Delta search will not just change search provider. It will change the new tab setting as well. go to "On startup" setting and tweak the startup page to blank or google or something else too.
Also, it might install something else in control panel that will restore search settings on browser restart. In such cases you will have to dig deeper through control panel ( http://www.2-viruses.com/remove-delta-search-hijacker ). Too bad these guys work on border of legitimate and can't be prosecuted :)
