How to Remove Right Click menu Items for Files and Folders

Removing Right Click menu items is easy with the help of registry. We always tend to install a no. of programs in our PC out of which many result in the addition of the themselves in the right click menu of files and folders. As a result , your right click menu gets too much longer with added items.
It’s easy to remove all those entries of right click menu if you know which key to edit in the registry.


Let’s see how can remove the right click menu items for files.


Here are the steps:


• Open the registry. ( Type REGEDIT in RUN and hit enter)
• Open  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
• Expand the ContextMenuHandlers key by clicking on the + sign in front of it.
• Now You can see the programs added in the right click menu.
• Delete the unwanted ones  or Disable them.


Exit the registry now.  Referesh and right click a file to see if the Right click menu item was removed or not.


The following applies only to the right click menu of the files. It will not remove any right click menu item of the folders.


For Folders right Click menus:


You need to go to the following entries in the Registry:


HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers


Now you have to follow the rest of the procedure like above and delete or disable the unwanted entries.


Warning: Backup the Registry before you make any changes if you are new at these things.
